Anchoring - Part 3
I'm Ryane, I'm an LA native, and I write reflections on how centering nature and creating can keep you more deeply rooted. In my last posts, I’ve reframed what it means to be creative, how it's a skill that everyone can develop & nurture over time, and provided reflections to consider to help you incorporate more creative routines into your life (see Reframing Creativity- Part 1). We also explored when is the best time to be creative in your journey and how engaging in a craft or ritual can invite clarity, lead to deeper self-awareness & spiritual maturity (Creating is Spiritual- Part 2). These are the basic steps beginners follow and discover as keys to unlocking a path that is both personal and unique.
While everyone’s journey towards creating is different, some telltale signs are visible when someone is led and fueled by their creativity. The self-assuredness, the vision, the obedience and patience in the unfolding, inner-knowing, and deep forms of trust are qualities that are embodied and shaped over time as a byproduct of their consistent efforts and focus on their creative work. Both their successes and failures over time are received as currency for producing future projects and exploration, unlocking new levels of expansion and creative growth.

So, what does it mean to be deeply & creatively aligned? Both in my physical body and my work over the past several years, my healing journey has helped me build a firm foundation that continues to unlock different versions of what creative nourishment/regulation looks like to me throughout my seasons. As an introvert approaching my mid-30s, I’ve developed more of a container and awareness of who I am, what I am capable of, what brings me joy in my life, and fills my cup. Through trial and error, I’ve gained some of the most valuable lessons throughout my journey while seeking habits and routines that reinforce alignment, including tasks that fuel my creative spark, hone my talent and skills, and give balance in both my passions and daily responsibilities, and have continued to follow that inner compass that this path will continue to unlock doors that deepen my greater potential.
Here are some ways that you may experience creative alignment/misalignment along your journey:

Note how many examples for misalignment also overlap with symptoms of poor mental health or illness. It is understandable that when you experience opportunities, people, or environments that may not fully allow you to grow or embrace your full potential, you may feel disconnected from your strengths, skills, and sense of self.
While there might also be periods of misalignment that are unexpected, it's easier to spot the signs of these periods that present themselves throughout your energy when you know yourself. Sometimes misalignment can be circumstantial, trusting that you can move through it and then regain alignment once you’ve made it to the other side of a turbulent season. I’ve encountered this recently, where I had an intense period of showing up in my creative work while managing a busy workload, and calibrating my sense of flow and balance that remains sustainable, so I still show up for my creative needs.
How to reset from misalignment to remain anchored:
-
Practice Radical Honesty: Continue to reflect on and be honest with yourself about what tasks fuel your energy vs feed on it
-
Cultivate Gratitude: Reflect on the lessons you may have gained from the experience, focus on what you have, and express thanks to foster a positive mindset and abundance.
-
Review and Adjust: Life changes, so regularly review your goals and commitments to ensure they still resonate with your evolving self. Refocus and regain a sense of rhythm.
-
Give yourself time: Your creative well will never run out as long as you give yourself time and much-needed rest to restore your energy.
